Trash & Recovery

Recover deleted items before they're permanently removed.

Overview

When you delete items in Compass, they're moved to the Trash rather than being permanently deleted immediately. This gives you a safety net to recover accidentally deleted items.

What Goes to Trash

The following items can be recovered from Trash:

  • Projects
  • Tasks
  • Budgets
  • Documents
  • Contacts
  • Trips

Note: Deleted items remain in Trash for a limited time before being permanently removed.

Accessing Trash

  1. Click your Profile icon in the top right
  2. Select Trash from the menu
  3. Or go directly to SettingsTrash

Viewing Deleted Items

The Trash shows all deleted items you have access to, including the item name, type, who deleted it, and when.

Recovering Items

  1. Find the item in Trash
  2. Click Restore
  3. Item is restored to its original location

What Gets Restored

When you restore an item:

  • The item returns to its original location
  • Associated child items are restored
  • Links and relationships are preserved
  • Activity history is maintained

Permanent Deletion

To permanently delete an item:

  1. Find the item in Trash
  2. Click Delete Permanently
  3. Confirm the action

Warning: Permanent deletion cannot be undone.

Permissions

Access to Trash and the ability to restore or permanently delete items depends on your role and permissions.
