Overview​

The Assets module is designed to be a central registry for all physical and digital items owned or managed by your organization. By linking assets to projects, locations (properties), and stakeholders, Compass will provide visibility into equipment distribution and responsibility.

Vision for Assets in Compass​

We are building a comprehensive system to handle the full lifecycle of your inventory:

1. Asset Registry​

Maintain a detailed database of all items, focused on:

  • Identification: Serial numbers, asset tags, and QR code integration.
  • Classification: Hierarchical categories (e.g., Heavy Machinery, IT Equipment, Furniture).
  • Documentation: Centralized storage for warranties, manuals, and purchase receipts.

2. Assignment & Tracking​

Know exactly where your resources are at any given time.

  • Personnel Assignment: Track equipment issued to specific team members.
  • Project Allocation: Monitor machinery currently deployed to project sites.
  • Property Integration: Manage installed fixtures or building-specific inventory.

3. Lifecycle Management​

Track your portfolio from procurement to decommissioning.

  • Maintenance Scheduling: Automated reminders for routine servicing.
  • Depreciation Tracking: Financial insights into asset valuation over time.
  • Condition Reporting: Quick status updates (In Use, In Storage, Out for Repair).

Integration Roadmap​

The Assets module will integrate with key areas of the Compass ecosystem:

  • Finance: For depreciation tracking and operational cost analysis.
  • Tasks: To ensure equipment availability for dependent project tasks.
  • Properties: For deep mapping of assets to physical locations.

Getting Started​

Currently, the Assets dashboard provides a high-level entry point. Full features including bulk CSV imports and manual record creation are part of our upcoming roadmap.
