Properties Overview
Centralized management for physical locations, sites, and operational facilities.
What are Properties?
The Properties module is designed for businesses that manage physical locations, such as retail chains, construction firms, or facilities management companies. A "Property" in Compass serves as a structured record for a physical site, capturing its address, stakeholders, contact information, and business details.
Why Use Property Management?
- Location-Based Organization: Group your projects, tasks, and documentation by physical location.
- Structured Site Data: Store address details, stakeholder assignments (Owner, Franchisee, Manager), and contact information for each site.
- Brand & Currency Association: Link properties to specific brands, sub-brands, and operating currencies.
- Custom Data Fields: Extend property records with organization-specific data points configured through Property Settings.
Key Relationships
Properties can be linked to other modules to provide context for your physical assets:
- Surveys: Link properties to surveys for site inspections and assessments.
- Projects: Associate projects with specific properties to track work performed at a site.
- Documents: Attach generated documents to properties for record-keeping.
- Stakeholders: Properties have built-in Franchisee, Manager, and Owner fields for tracking key people associated with each location.
Common Workflows
- Property Creation: Add new sites with address, stakeholder, and contact data via the Create Property modal.
- Custom Attributes: Use Property Settings to define custom fields that appear on all property records.
- Property Editing: Update property details from the Single Property view, which organizes fields into sections: Base Information, Address, Contact Information, Stakeholders, Property Details, and Additional Information.
