Generating Documents

Generate polished documents by merging your live data with predefined templates.

Where to Generate Documents

Documents are generated directly from the specific records they belong to. You will find the download button in the single view of supported modules:

  • Projects — Project charters, status reports, proposals.
  • Project Notes — Note summaries and project documentation.
  • Tasks — Task details, assignment summaries.
  • Trips — Trip itineraries, travel reports.
  • Invoices — Billing summaries, official invoices.
  • Budgets — Financial summaries, budget plans.

How to Generate a Document

  1. Navigate to the specific record (e.g., open a Project's single view).
  2. Look for the document download button in the record header.
  3. Click the button to see a list of available templates for that module.
  4. Select the desired template.
  5. Compass will generate the document and automatically start the download.

The list of available templates is filtered by the Related Module, Roles with Access, and Visibility Rules defined when the template was created.

Output Formats

The output format is configured in the template settings. The available formats are:

PDFFinished reports, contracts, and read-only documents.
DOCXDocuments that may need manual editing after generation.
XLSXSpreadsheet-based outputs and data exports.

Document Logs

To see a history of all documents generated in the system:

  1. Go to Documents in the sidebar.
  2. Select the Logs tab.
  3. Use Search to find specific logs or click Export xlsx to download the log data.
