Two-Factor Authentication
Learn how two-factor authentication (2FA) works in Compass and how to use it when signing in.
Overview
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Compass account. When 2FA is enabled for your account, you'll need to provide both your password and a verification code to sign in.
How 2FA Works
When 2FA is required for your account:
- Sign in with your email and password
- Receive a code - A 6-digit verification code is sent to your email or generated by your authenticator app (depending on how 2FA is configured for your account)
- Enter the code - Enter the code on the 2FA verification page
- Access granted - Once verified, you're signed in to Compass
Signing In with 2FA
Step 1: Enter Your Credentials
- Go to the Sign In page
- Enter your email address
- Enter your password
- Click Sign In
Step 2: Verify with Code
After entering your credentials:
- You'll be redirected to the 2FA verification page
- A message will show that a code was sent to your email, or you may use your authenticator app to get the code (depending on your 2FA configuration)
- Get the 6-digit code from your email or authenticator app
- Enter the code in the verification field
- Click Verify or press Enter
Step 3: Complete Sign-In
- If the code is correct, you'll see "Authentication successful"
- Click Continue to access Compass
- If the code is incorrect, you'll see "Your Authentication Failed" and can try again
Resending the Code
If you didn't receive the code or it expired:
- Click Resend Code link on the 2FA page
- A new code will be sent to your email
- Enter the new code
Note: Codes expire after a short period. If your code doesn't work, try resending.
Security Settings
2FA can be configured in different ways:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| 2-Factor Authentication Required | 2FA is mandatory for your account |
| Login only with E-mail and Password | Standard password-only authentication |
| Enforce SSO Login | Single Sign-On required (no password) |
Note: Your administrator controls these security settings. Contact them to change your authentication method.
