Project Documents
Manage files, attachments, and generated reports specifically for your project.
Document Management vs. Document Generation
It is important to understand the two ways documents are handled in a project:
- Project Files Tab (This page): A file storage area for uploading, storing, and organizing files related to the project.
- Document Generation: A feature triggered from the Download Documents button in the project header that creates new files from templates.
Using the Documents Tab
The Files tab serves as a central repository for all project-related files (e.g., permits, site photos, external contracts).
Uploading a Document
- Open your project.
- Navigate to the Files tab.
- Click Upload Document.
- Enter the title, description, and select the file from your computer.
- Click Upload.
Managing Files
The document list shows:
- Title & Description: Context for the file.
- File Name: Click to download the file.
- Date Created: When the file was uploaded.
- Uploaded By: The user who added the document.
You can Edit or Delete documents using the actions menu in each row.
Project Document Generation
To create a standardized document (like a Project Charter or Status Report) using a template:
- Click the Download Documents button in the Project Header (next to the project name).
- Select the desired template.
- The document will be generated with live project data and downloaded to your computer.
tip
If you want a generated document to be stored permanently in the project, you can upload the finished file back to the Documents tab.
